Best of the Best in '14...Chilly Conditions Did Nothing to Stop 5 Amazing Athletes From Shattering Meet Records at the 2014 Red Raider Relays

Cordisco Field, Thiells, NY - Ramapo's  Kaylyn Gordon, New Rochelle's Ashley Wiggins, Warwick Valley's Todd Uckermark and Northport's Jack McGowan were second to none when it came to athletic accomplishments at the 2014 edition of the Red Raider Relays.  All four took home the traditional "Outstanding Performance" of the meet award for their respective track or field accomplishments and three of the four remarkably set new meet records.  During day one of Wednesday's competition, Warwick Valley's Todd Uckermark opened up and rewrote the record book with his vault of 15-09, breaking the old record of 15-00 held formerly by North Rockland's Ryan Dall ('93) and Monroe-Woodbury's Mike Uhelsky ('97).  Northport of Long Island contributed yet another outstanding team showing in 2014 helped along by Mike Brannigan's 1600 meet record.  Last year, Northport's James Dickinson ran 4:16 to win the 1600m and break the existing meet record in impressive fashion.  This year, Brannigan claimed the record for himself and kept the Northport line of succession going. Later that afternoon, Northport's Jack McGowan and Monroe-Woodbury's Jack Jibb destroyed the 3200m record broken only last year by Carmel's Eric Holt in 9:18.  McGowan met Jibb surge for surge to outlast his opponent and clocking a new meet record of 9:12 to Jibb's impressive 9:14.  On Thursday, New Rochelle's Ashley Wiggins showed why  indeed that she is New York's reigning state indoor and outdoor champion in the hurdles.  The senior ran 14.25 to break Arlington's Tichanda Daniels' 1995 mark of 14.51.   In yet another amazing display of athleticism, Arlington junior Zola Golden broke Charity Briggs of Cornwall's 2003 meet record in the 200m in 24.33. results continued
