NR Team Completes 2010 Season with Top Section One Performance; Naglieri Leads Raiders with Top 40 Finish
Waiting Their Turn...NR was Rewarded at the Federation Championships with Some Fine Efforts From Some Emerging Faces
Wappinger's Falls, NY - North Rockland scored 263 points to place 8th overall at the 2010 NYS Federation Championships held at Bowdoin Park. James Naglieri was the Red Raiders' top finisher with his 33rd place 16:39.4 effort. Tim Mendez, NR's #2 finisher, broke the 17 minute barrier at Bowdoin Park's 5k course with a 16:56 effort. The Red Raiders got gutsy efforts from all seven athletes who were motivated to race well for their program after an upsetting loss to section rival Arlington denied them a team trip to the state championships a week earlier. North Rockland finished as Section One's top boys team on the day. Arlington, who lost their #1 man due to injury, was 17th overall in the team standings. results continued

Roller Coaster Ride...Seniors James Naglieri and Tim Mendez Were Rewarded With a Trip to States For Their Valiant Efforts
Lakeside Park, NY - Senior James Naglieri beat the rest of the Section One Class AA field by 17 seconds and teammate Tim Mendez ran a race worthy of a championship; both earned an indiviudal berth at the site of the 2010 New York State Cross Country Championships: Lakeside Park in Pawling, NY. Naglier ran 16:11, while Mendez clocked 16:39.7, yet it wasn't good enough to stop an Arlington team who beat up on the tail end of North Rockland's varsity. North Rockland was unsuccessful in defending their Sectional One title of a year ago, losing 46-55 to the Admirals. North Rockland's young junior varsity, led by freshman Liam Purdy who captured first overall, ran exceptionally well in a close 35-37 loss to Arlington in the final race of the day. results continued

Raider Pups Record Lowest NR Team Score Ever to Win First Frosh Title Since 2006

November's Novices...These Raider Pups Brought Home The First Roswell Title For North Rockland Frosh Since 2006
West Nyack, NY - Asaad Jeffery and Liam Purdy led a pack of four Raiders in the top seven and five within the top twelve as North Rockland earned another title this season as the pups took home the 2010 Ray Roswell Freshman Championships. Asaad Jeffery (2nd) and Liam Purdy (3rd) led the Raider 1-2 punch running 9:05 and 9:08 respectively. Another duo, Tom Kelly (6th) and Adam Burlew (7th) paired up to run within a second of each other in 9:37 and 9:38. Stephen Schnalzer (12th) secured the win as NR's fifth man in 9:51.4. results continued

Bear Mountain, NY - For the first time, North Rockland cross country was able to win its third straight Rockland County Championship with a 35-49 win over runner-up Pearl River. James Naglieri led the team that placed seven Raiders in the top 15. North Rockland's junior varsity swpet the top four spots and six of the top seven for a 16 point win. results continued

Junior Jump...With Two JV Wins to His Credit, Jon Miklos Has Undoubtedly Made The Biggest Leap of Any NR Runner
Lakeside Park, Pawling, NY - North Rockland's varsity scored their second team victory of the season with an 80 point win over runner-up host, Pawling High School in the Varsity Three race of the Section One Coaches Invitational. Senior James Naglieri ran a stellar 16:19 on the challenging 5k course which will play host to the New York State Championships in November. Naglieri placed 2nd behind Martin Hehir of Washingtonville who won in 16:13. Tim Mendez (17:09) and Nick Bien-Aime (17:11) gave NR three runners in the top thirteen. Junior Jon Miklos won the JV Two race in 17:39 and was quickly followed by Liam Purdy (17:48) and Asaad Jeffrey (17:51) for a top three sweep and a 29 point victory over second place Arlington (50 points). results continued

Bear Mountain, NY - North Rockland scored a 15-50 win over host Nyack in a make-up of a rainout at Bear Mountain. Senior Alex Andre led a NR sweep of the first nine places with a 16:53 effort for the three mile course. results continued

Van Cortlandt Park, Bronk NY - Senior James Naglieri set a personal best mark of 13:09.6 at Van Cortland Park at the 2010 Manhattan College Invitational. Naglieri's 5th place led the Raiders in the varsity "F" race and cracked the NR All-Time Top 10 and Sub 14 List at Van Cortland Park. The Raiders finished second to Lowell (Mass) HS 107-126. results continued

Red Raiders 12th in Great American Festival Race of Champions
WakeMed Soccer Park, Cary, NC - Senior James Naglieri led North Rockland to a 12th place finish in the 21 team Race of Champions at the 2010 Great American Cross Country Festival held at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina. Naglieri led his five teammates, all of whom posted bests for 5k, with a time 15:53.8 and a team total of 286 points. Nick Bien-Aime (58th) and Dylan Landry (60th) posted personal bests in 16:12. Tim Mendez and Alex Andre rounded out the Raider scoring in 16:36 and 16:38 respectively. Francis Kelly turned in his best 5k effort with a time of 16:46. Trinity Prep High School of Florida won the race with 96 points. results continued

Lakeside Park, Pawling, NY - North Rockland's varsity placed 2nd overall in the Varsity One race at the 2010 Green Mountain Invitational held at Lakeside Park in Pawling, NY. Freshman Liam Purdy led the Red Raiders with a stellar 18:11.5 for the 5,000m course which will host the 2010 New York State Public High School Intersectional Cross Country Championships at the end of the year. Fellow frosh Asaad Jeffrey placed in the top 10 with a time of 18:16. Freshman Adam Burlew led the Raider JV team to a 7th place finish with a 26th place effort in 19:40. results continued

Class of 2010...The NR Girls and Boys Teams Raced Nine Total Seniors in their Varsity Races that Won the Red Raider Run
Harriman, NY - North Rockland Cross Country officially opened its 2010 season with wins in the Varsity One races at the Red Raider Run held on the 5k course at the Anthony Wayne Rec Area. Alexis Hatcher and Ellie Hekker led the Lady Raiders to a 32 point win in the Varsity One Race. Cornwall was second with 61 points. The Raider boys placed four in the top six en route to a 23 point win over second place Hamden, CT (64 points). The Lakeland-Panas girls won the first ever Red Raider Run title for their school with a 49 point win in the Varsity Two race. In the closest race of the day, Ramsey, NJ defeated Monroe-Woodbury in the boys' Varsity Two race via a 6th man tie-break. James Naglieri (16:06.9) and Valley Central's Holly Cavalluzzo (19:19.0) were the fastest on the day. North Rockland's Olivia Ohanian and Jon Miklos led a sweep of the top JV spots for NR as both teams captured JV titles.
