North Rockland 4x8 Smashes School and Rockland County Record in Last Attempt of Season
Naglieri Establishes NR School Record in Indoor 5k with 15:38.43 at National Scholastic Indoor

Welcome To the Club...North Rockland Welcomed Four New Record Holders as the Red Raider 4x8 Set a New School and Rockland County Marks
Armory, NYC - (Day 2) North Rockland's 4x800m relay of Nick Hughes, Nick Bien-Aime, Dylan Landry and Alex Andre set a new school and Rockland County record of 7:54.11 to place 4th overall at the 2010 National Scholastic Indoor Championships. The existing record of 7:59.9 was set back in 2003. Once again the Raiders relied on senior Nick Hughes (1:59.4) who rallied in the second 400m to hand off in third place in the 4th and final section of the race. After a 55.8 second opening 400m, junior Nick Bien-Aime (1:57.5) ran a brilliant 2nd half of the race to keep the team close to Walter Johnson, MD. While the Raiders maintained their third place position through the end of the race, juniors Dylan Landry (2:00.0) and Alex Andre (1:57.2) brought the Raider team home to the historic mark. The previous Rockland County record was 7:59.1 set by Suffern back in 1983.
(Day 1) Junior James Naglieri made North Rockland history by becoming the first Red Raider athlete to compete in the indoor 5,000m at the 2010 National Scholastic Indoor Championships. In doing so, Naglieri set the bar quite high with a 15:38.43 effort that placed him 10th overall in 15:38.43. Naglieri's time is #2 All-Time Rockland county, second to Pearl River's Mike Hickey who ran 15:28 as a senior last year. The shuttle hurdle relay team of Anthony Congress, Kevin Michel-Turnier, Colton Lubaszka and Carmil Thelemarque placed 13th overall in 31.80. results continued

4x8 THRILLER!
NR Relay 3rd in NYSHSAA. 4th in Federation at State Championships in Cornell
Andre Runs Great Anchor; Hughes Delivers Great Lead-Off in Replacing Mendez After Illness; Relay Shines

Sick Race...After Losing Leadoff Mendez, North Rockland's State Meet 4x8 Showed Up at the 2010 Indoor State Championships
Barton Hall, Cornell University - North Rockland's Tim Mendez had been reliable all year, but on the morning of the 2010 NYSPHSAA Track and Field Championships a virus stopped him dead in his tracks. There would be no heroics, no valiant effort out NR's sub 2 minute half miler after a series of proven efforts all season out of their junior. Instead, North Rockland turned to a state champion to substitute for Mendez. Nick Hughes, 2009 New York State Cross Country Champion, would fill Mendez's shoes quite well as alternate after a disappointing state qualifier meet left him without an individual berth to the state meet. Putting ego aside and embracing humility, Hughes was proud to travel to Cornell to help the Raiders any way he could. Little did Hughes know he'd be holding the baton on the starting line that day: a state champion at the state meet waiting for the gun to sound. After Hughes's 2:02 leadoff leg gave the Raiders a solid start, junior Nick Bien-Aime brought the team into the top 5. Dylan Landry held the team's position and handed off to Alex Andre. Andre ran the team's fastest leg to bring them home in 8:03.83 which was good for 3rd in NYSPHSAA and 4th in the NYS Federation. Junior James Naglieri finished 20th overall in the 3200m with a time of 9:56. results continued

Flexing Their Muscle...Each of These Five Red Raiders Had Something to Prove at the Section One State Qualifier
Armory, NYC - With less than 100m to go in the 3200m, James Naglieri made up his mind that he was going to qualify for his first indoor state championships no matter what. Sitting in third, Naglieri 's personal best was only seconds off the state standard and wouldn't go unless he was in the top two. Knowing that he needed this chance to prove himself as an individual, Naglieri passed New Rochelle's Harrison Quamily and then Rye's Max Robinson at the line to win the Section One State Qualifier and advance to the New York State Championships in Cornell, NY. The Raider 4x8 relay of Tim Mendez, Nick Bien-Aime, Dylan Landry and Alex Andre took a different approach. Going in as the #2 seed and having never beaten New Rochelle all season, the Raiders jumped out from the gun and never looked back winning in a new seasonal best of 8:01. The relay is North Rockland's first at the indoor championships since 2005. Dylan Landry and Nick Bien-Aime both set new personal bests in the 600m run and triple jump respectively to earn the first ever individual berths to a state track and field championship. Landry later informed the section committee that he would be declining his 600m spot to focus on the relay. results continued
