All-American!
Carrington Breaks School Mile Record at National Scholastic Championships
Raider Senior Earns First Ever All-American Honor with Blazing Personal Best

All-American Mile...Chris Carrington Became the 25th Distance Running All-American in XC and Track for NR Since 1997
Armory, NYC - An All-American will always comes back from adversity. In 2003, Raider steeplechaser Miguel Reyes finished second in his state qualifier, yet went on to win a state title and finish 3rd at the then Adidas Outdoor Nationals to earn All-American honors. In 2005, Raider steeplechaser and XC All-American, John Martinez, fell disappointingly short of his state and national championship goals, but rebounded and earned two All-American honors while going on to win the US Junior Championship in a record time of 9:06 which earned him a spot on the US team that summer. Undeniably, no Raider All-American had suffered a more crushing blow en route to the honor than Chris Carrington. Carrington, whose goal was to win a state championship in the mile during the 2008-09 indoor season, was told the state championship he thought he'd won was no longer his. The North Rockland senior was disqualified for running three steps on the break line at the beginning of the race after blowing the rest of the field away by race's end. Impressively, Carrington showed up for practice the next week with a positive attitude and a desire to put his last race's disappointment behind him. With two strong training sessions, Carrington was ready to set a new school record in the 1 mile run and earn his first All-American honor. He did just that. The Raider distance runner ran 4:14.55 for fourth place breaking John Martinez's mark of 4:15.64 set back in 2005. Of the top four finishers, Carrington was the second American.

DASHING!
Ellis Places 5th in State and Federation Championship Triple Jump
North Rockland Senior Caps Season of Amazing Progress to End Up on NYS Championship Podium
Heavy Medals...Dasheen Ellis Earned Two Coveted State and Federation Medals for his Efforts in the Triple Jump
Barton Hall, Cornell University - In the first couple weeks of the 2008-09 North Rockland Boys Track and Field season Dasheen Ellis wasn't his team's best triple jumper. In fact, Ellis had four teammates post better efforts than his initial season best of 39 feet 4.5 inches. As each meet progressed, Ellis quietly became one of the team's leaders: positive, supportive and dependable. Then it happened. At the Section One State Qualifier Ellis nailed a jump over 45 feet and suddenly interjected his name in talks among the New York State's best. The indoor state championship meet has always been the great leveler as far as athletic performances are concerned. Funny things happen. No one would've blamed Dasheen Ellis for coming up short of the medal podium in a meet where all eyes look increasingly closer at your efforts. The athlete who started the season by jumping 39 feet and wasn't a lock to make the state meet had jumped as well as he had all season, placing fifth overall in the state and federation with a leap of 45 feet 2 inches. Dasheen Ellis medaled in his first state meet ever and in the process proved that caring and hard work are eventually rewarded. results to come

THREE'S COMPANY
North Rockland Sending Three Red Raiders to Ithaca
Carrington, Lacossade and Ellis Headed to State Championships at Cornell University
All Eyes on Ellis...With a Huge Personal Best in the Triple Jump at the State Qualifier, Dasheen Ellis Was Tops for the Raiders
Gillis Field House, West Point, NY - Dasheen Ellis leapt to a new personal best of over 45 feet in the triple jump and landed himself in the New York State Track and Field Championships in two weeks at Cornell University. Seniors Chris Carrington and Ryan Lacossade will join Ellis on the trip to Ithaca, NY for the state competition. Carrington won the 1600m run in 4:25 and Lacossade finished just a shade ahead of fourth place to nab the third place auto-qualifier. Of the three Raider seniors that qualified for the State Championships, Ellis is the only first time qualifier. Carrington ran in last year's championships in the 1600m run and Lacossade hurdled in the outdoor championships two years ago while competing for Albertus Magnus. With the leap, Ellis has placed himself well within striking distance of the top of the list of New York State triple jumpers. results to come

Ellis Wins Section One Class A Triple Jump Title; Raiders 6th Overall
Raider Senior Wins First Ever Sectional Championship, Carrington Delivers Strong Individual Triple

Making His Move...Sophomore Dylan Landry has Been Featured in the Long Sprints for North Rockland All Season
Armory NYC - In an indoor track season where the North Rockland boys could not bring home a team championship in any one of the three majors, there have been many exceptional individual performances turned in from the Red Raiders. Notable performances were turned in by seniors like Dasheen Ellis and Chris Carrington. Senior Dasheen Ellis captured the Section One Class A triple jump championship with a personal best leap of 43-06.50. It was the first such championship of Ellis's career. Carrington delivered a team championship type effort for the Raiders with third place finishes in the 3200m and 1600m. Shortly after his double, he delivered a 53 second effort on the Raider 4x400m relay. Carrington's time in the 3200m of 9:32 was a personal best. The Raiders scored a total of 30 points to place 6th overall. results to come

SHOT PUT STUNNER
Raider Sophomore Throws Near Team Best in First Ever Competition
Darius Favors Breaks 44ft After Signing Up for the Event For First Time
Catching Raider "Favor"...Soph Darius Favors (third picture) Won't Be Concentrating on Sprinting Much Longer
Jersey City, NJ - In his first season of track and field, Raider sophomore Darius Favors decided he'd like to try an event that he had never competed in his last meet of the season. So when the time came to pencil his name in for his events, Favors chose the shot put. Having no throwing experience, Favors opted to heave the shot put from a stand still while the other, more experienced glided and spun in their way through the circle. Favors not only made the final of the Section One Invitational, he placed third overall in the varsity division and was only one and a half inches from setting the team's personal best performance of the season. Favor's throw of 44-01.00 ranks him second in a program that was once known for its throwing dominance. With multiple 60ft throwers and two state champions to its past credit, North Rockland has suffered from a drought of 50ft throwers for close to a decade. Ironically, Favors season will continue next week, in the shot put of course, when he competes in the Section One Championships. results continued

SUPER SUNDAY!
Carrington Breaks 30 Year North Rockland Record in 1,000m Run
Raider Boys 2nd in County Championship; Ramapo Wins Team Title

Move Over Mr. Sinclair...Red Raider Chris Carrington Broke Todd Sinclair's 30 Year Old 1,000m School Record
Armory NYC - When Todd Sinclair set North Rockland's 1,000m record on February 20th, 1979, Jimmy Carter was the President of the United States, a new coach named Gene Dall took over at North Rockland, Raider cross country coach Barry Baloga was five years old. Three decades is a long time. Willing or not, for three decades not one single, solitary boy could break Todd Sinclair's record, until now. Senior Chris Carrington decided that he wanted to own his school's 1,000m record and did it in dominating fashion. Carrington not only set the school record (2:28.8), but won the Rockland County championship along with stepping up to #2 All-Time Indoor Rockland County Track and Field in the 1,000m run. Carrington added the 1,600m county title later in the meet, but his MVP type performance couldn't help his team beat Ramapo (104) who defended their county team title with a 15 point win over the Raiders (89). Along with Carrington's titles, the Raiders produced four county champions. Ryan Lacossade won the Rockland County title in the 55m hurdles in 7.85. Dasheen Ellis won the triple jump county championship with a leap of 42-07.50. results continued

North Rockland Places 3rd at League 1B Championships
Still Undefeated: Carrington Is Team's Only Double Winner of Meet
Raiders Hang on till Bitter End; Fall to Winner Suffern by Ten Points at Meet's End, Ramapo Second

Flying Start...Ryan Lacossade Led a Trio of NR Hurdlers Who Gave Red Raiders an Early Championship Lead
Rockland Community College, Eugene Levy Fieldhouse - One of the lingering questions for the 2008-09 Red Raider Track and Field team was answered last night: This year's team has the talent to win big meets, but does it have the heart to win championships as such Raider teams in the past? The answer is yes. The Raiders scored 105 points at meet's end to finish ten behind Suffern, just two behind Ramapo, and found out that there is more for them out there before season's end. Senior Chris Carrington led all Raider scorers with the 20 points he earned with striking victories in the 1,000m (2:33.5) and the 1,600m (4:28.8). With the victories, Carrington still has not lost to a single competitor since starting his indoor campaign earlier in December. The Raider triple jumpers gave the team a huge lift late in the meet when they racked up 18 points in the event behind the efforts of Joe Seward (2nd), Dasheen Ellis (3rd) and Nick Bien-Aime (4th). results continued

Raiders 7th Place in Team Scoring at Rockland Coaches Invitational
Carrington Undefeated in Individual Races in 08-09 Season; Wins Invitational 1,000 Yard Run

Tough as Nails...Charlie Lagos and James Naglieri Both Posted Personal Bests in the 3,000m and 3,200m Runs
Rockland Community College, Eugene Levy Fieldhouse - The North Rockland Red Raiders placed 7th overall in the first team scoring meet of the 2008-09 indoor season at the Rockland Coaches Invitational. The Raiders scored 25 points, while the defending Rockland County champions, Ramapo High School, scored 67 points for the team title. So far, the biggest story of the 2008-09 season has been the stellar performance of distance runner Chris Carrington. The senior has scored victories in each of the four races he's contested this season: the most recent being a fast 2:19.7 for 1,000 yards. Another great story is the emergence of the distance duo of James Naglieri and Charlie Lagos. Already noted for their exploits during NRXC's 2008 championship season, Naglieri (10:01) and Lagos (10:02) finished 3rd and 4th respectively in the 3,200m run. results continued
