4x8 RELAY BREAKS RECORD
Senior Team Breaks Own Record Nearly One Year Later in Final Try of High School Careers

Lasting Impact...The team of Alex Andre, Dylan Landry, Tim Mendez, and Nick Bien-Aime Have Proven Their Ranking Amongst the Best Relays Ever
Greensboro, NC - With Alex Andre moved from anchor to lead-off, North Rockland jumped out to a huge lead in the unseeded section of the boys' 4x800m relay at the 2011 New Balance Outdoor Nationals held on the campus of North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, North Carolina and the team never looked back. Andre split the team's fastest 1:54.87 and his teammates did the rest. Earning crowd support for their clear effort of running as fast as possible despite being all alone with no team pushing them, Dylan Landry (1:56.41), Nick Bien-Aime (1:57.13) and Tim Mendez (1:56.19) won the unseeded section going away in 7:44.58 and in the process broke their own school record set last year at the New York State Outdoor Championships by tenths of a second. North Rockland was ninth overall in the final standings. The time and effort produced by these four seniors cements their place as one of the best relays in Rockland County and Section One history. results continued

FAVORS DELIVERS
Senior Jumps from 5th in Division One to 2nd in NYS Federation in Final Discus
Throw of 168-06 in Federation Finals Earns Senior Silver Medal; Leading Until Sophomore's Final Throw; 4x8 7th
Big Favors...In the Final Event of his High School Career, Darius Favors Solidifed his NR Throwing Legacy with a 2nd Place Fed Performance
Mumford, NY - After fouling all of his throws in the discus during the Section One State Qualifier and getting in via the automatic state standard, NR senior Darius Favors wasn't exactly charging into the 2011 New York State Outdoor Track and Field Championships brimming with confidence. After a decent, but shaky 5th place finish in the state's division one competition, Favors regained the composure that had made him a success during much of the 2011 outdoor season and threw a personal best 168-08, good for 2nd overall in the NYS Federation Final. Favors actually led the entire final competition until sophomore Rudy Winkler of Averill Park unleashed a 173-03 for the win. Still, Favors made the most of his final opportunity as a NR thrower and delivered a top states throws performance which North Rockland has not seen in quite some time. The 4x8 relay of Tim Mendez, Dylan Landry, Nick Bien-Aime, and Alex Andre ran 7:52.64 to place 6th in NYS Division One and 7th in the NYS Federation. Long jumper Nick Bien-Aime placed 11th overall in the division one competition with a leap of 21-00.50. Steeplechaser James Naglieri placed 25th in 10:01.74. results continued

GREATEST EVER?
4x8 Relay, Bien-Aime, Favors, Naglieri Qualify for NY Track and Field Championships
Triple Crowns, School, County Records, All-American Honors; Accomplishments Continue to Grow for Six Seniors

Core Power...The Six Seniors Pictured Above Rank Right Up There with the Best Core of Talent North Rockland Track and Field Has Seen
White Plains, NY - Try looking back at the North Rockland history books and see if you can find six individuals who ranked amongst the top of Section One and New York State in their respective events all at the same time. See if you can find as well rounded a group of distance, sprinters, throwers, jumpers and hurdlers. Examine the record lists and try to spot the best relay in North Rockland history. Find six NR athletes who were all contemporaries to match up against Dylan Landry, Alex Andre, Nick Bien-Aime, Tim Mendez, Darius Favors and James Naglieri. Odds are if you try really hard you won't be able to deny these six their due. They're all headed to compete in the 2011 New York State Public High School Track and Field Championships held at Caledonia-Mumford High School just outside Rochester, NY. After having run the event together just once this season at the Penn Relays, the 4x8 of Mendez, Landry, Bien-Aime, and Andre won the Section One Qualifier in 7:53 to advance to the state finals. Naglieri advanced via the state standard in the 3,000m steeplechase, Favors qualified in both the shot and discus and Bien-Aime qualified in the long jump. results continued

LEAPING INTO HISTORY
Bien-Aime Shatters Two 26 Year Old Jumping Records, Leads Team to Second Triple Crown
Red Raiders Score 119 Points to Capture Outdoor Track and Field Triple Crown; New Rochelle Second with 67 Points

The Best for Last...The 2010-11 Track and Field Teams Roseto the Challenge and Left No Doubt Who the Best Team in Section One Was
Montebello, NY - Move over Sean Minnies and Anthony McClendon, there's a new king of North Rockland jumping: Nick Bien-Aime. Rarely does one athlete overshadow any North Rockland team winning a triple crown, but an athlete smashing two legitimate school records set back in 1985 is not seen as often, if ever. In the midst of North Rockland dominating its competition once again this track and field season, Bien-Aime cemented his legacy as one of the best jumpers in NR and Rockland County history to add to his already impressive and crowded resume of athletic accomplishments. Bien-Aime jumped 23'05" in the long jump and leaped 46'11" in the triple jump to set the new NR standard which, ironically, were both good for second place. Bien-Aime was bested by rival Thomas Johnson of White Plains in both contests. results continued

Familiar Steps...NR's Seniors Are One Step Closer To The Outdoor Triple Crown After Meeting Mr. Doherty In the Winner's Circle
New City, NY - Meet announcer Tom Doherty had it right, if May 21st was indeed the end of the world and/or "Judgment Day" as some religious zealots had predicted, what better way than to spend the last moments of Earthly pleasure than at the Rockland County Track and Field Championships? For the Raiders it was especially sweet : a dominating 175.33 performance from the opening gun of Thursday's 2,000m steeplechase to Friday night's 4x400m relay. The believers in the voices of religious prognosticators could have taken some awkward events at Clarkstown North's facility as signs. The boys steeplechase, set for 5pm at Clarkstown North, was contested at 9pm at Clarkstown South the very same night after North Rockland steeplechasers noticed the barrier could not be set to the required height for boys. This was after weather delays due to severe lightning. And during the awards ceremony, as nearly all of Rockland County track and field was centered inside Clarkstown North's track, the stadium's lighting system suddenly shut down catapulting the entire facility into immediate darkness and chaos, which was quickly calmed by the quick thinking of Rockland County's coaches. But even in the sport of track and field, predictions mean nothing and nothing could be done to deter North Rockland from winning the Rockland County Championship. The team won six individual events and two relays led by seniors Darius Favors and Nick Bien-Aime who each won two individual events. Favors won the shot and disc, while Bien-Aime won the long and triple jumps and earned the award for top field event performer. Other county champions included James Naglieri (2k steeplechase) and Tim Mendez (1600m). The 4x8 relay of Mendez, Dylan Landry, Rich Bertrand and Alex Andre won in a time of 8:07. The 4x400m relay of Don Dibari, Bien-Aime, Nick Calabria, and Jon Mendez won in a time of 3:30.7. results continued

NR's Top Thrower Meets NYS Championship Standard in Shot and Discus; Naglieri Meets Standard in Steeplechase
Their Specialties...Seniors Darius Favors and James Naglieri Delivered Proud Performances in their Best Events at Loucks
White Plains, NY - The Glenn D. Loucks Games seems to be a tricky meet in recent years for the North Rockland Red Raider boys team. Annually situated in between the League and Rockland County Championships, the meet has played out as a "you either show up or you don't" event for the Red Raiders. Three Raiders who took the event and made it meaningful were seniors Darius Favors, Nick Bien-Aime, and James Naglieri. Favors made both podium awards ceremonies for his efforts in the shot and discus. He placed 5th in the shot put (51-09.75) and 3rd in the discus (163-04): both distances meet the NYS Championship standard. Senior Nick Bien-Aime leaped (45-05) for third in his event. James Naglieri set a new personal best in the 3,000m steeplechase and met the NYS Championships standard by placing 4th in the event in 9:40.43. results continued
